The bolts that come with the rim are 2'' long, so weren't long enough for my homemade backboard. Quick trip to the hardware store and I was set. They're 5/16''-20. Comes with 4 flat washers and nylon-lock nuts. I added 4 more flat washers washers. The bolt heads need washers on the rim side, and I didn't want the nuts to dig into the wood frame.
Answer: I would think that bright orange is highly visible. Can you imagine trying to visually “locate” a white or black rim against the gym or crowd background?

Graphus. · 7y. For the wood, any paint suitable for exterior house trim should work fine for this application since it's intended for long-term exposure to the elements. You'll want to prep the surface well for best results (same goes for the hoop obvs), as well as using a good primer underneath ideally.
