The volleyball uniform consists of a top and bottom or sometime a one-piece. The top and bottom piece must be of like or coordinating colors. The uniform top must be skin tight, but cannot expose the midriff, and it must be long enough to be tucked into or hang below the waistband of the bottoms.

Numbers and Jerseys. With one exception, the color and design of the team's jerseys must match. A player's number must be between 1 and 20. It has to be on the center of the front and back of the jersey and in a shade different from the rest of the jersey.
No waiver necessary. Ball must have NFHS authenticating mark. UNIFORM: Since volleyball does not have home and away uniforms, either or both teams may wear pink. Uniforms must meet NFHS requirements (Rule 4-2) including legally positioned numbers (Rule 4-2-4). No advertising or slogans are allowed on the uniform.

So there you have it. The player who wears a different uniform of jersey color in Volleyball is known as the Libero. The Libero is a defensive specialist who only plays in the back row. The Libero can sub in and out for any backrow player however the player the Libero changes with must swap back in for the Libero.
